The Kindertransport: New discoveries about a story of heartache and hope

In December 1939, the first Kindertransport arrived in Britain. Why did thousands of families send their children into the unknown, and how did those children rebuild their lives?

Join us for a hybrid event (in person and online) featuring a virtual tour of our re-created exhibition 'The Journey', a talk from a Kindertransportee, and new discoveries of Kindertransport stories. The event includes: • A tour led by Professor Maiken Umbach, Chief Academic Adviser • Testimony from Kindertransport survivor John Fieldsend • Insights from Dr Amy Williams, whose archival discoveries have shed new light on Kindertransport stories Chaired by Professor Maiken Umbach, this event connects history, scholarship, and lived experience in one powerful afternoon. Booking: Please book both an admission ticket and an event ticket. If you’ve visited within the last 12 months, you can book a free return ticket using your valid admission pass. Can't attend in person? Book an online ticket to attend our tour and talks from anywhere in the world.
