This series of talks complements Luke Jerram’s magnificent ‘Helios’ (sun) installation which will be in the Minster in July / August 2026.
Join a member of Southwell Minster music department to take a rare behind the scenes look at the organ! See the ins and outs of both the Minster’s organs, including some parts not usually open to the public. Get to understand better how organs work, and see one of the Minster’s organists close up as they perform on one of the organs. Please note: ! Much of this tour is at height ! With steep steps and narrow passageways ! Please wear sensible footwear ! We do not recommend this tour for people with mobility issues ! This tour is limited to a maximum of 8 per tour Your tour will be led by a member of our music department, either: Paul Provost Paul has been Rector Chori (Director of Music) at Southwell Minster since 2017, where he is responsible for the cathedral’s music provision, including directing the Cathedral Choir of girl choristers, boy choristers and lay clerks. Jonathan Allsopp Jonny has been Assistant Director of Music at Southwell Minster since 2019, where he is the principal accompanist to the Cathedral Choir, playing for all choral services in the cathedral.Event information
