Exciting New Sunday Community Market Planned for Southwell The Wheatsheaf team is looking to breathe new life into the historic Market Place with a vibrant, free-to-exhibit community event this August. Southwell’s historic Market Place is a staple of Saturday life, thanks to the incredibly successful WI Southwell Country Market on Sheppards Row. However, a local team believes the space has even more to offer the town—specifically on Sundays. The team at The Wheatsheaf has announced an exciting initiative to better utilize the Market Place, boost town tourism, and provide a dedicated platform for local talent. They are currently planning a brand-new Community Market, pencilled in for Sunday, August 9th, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Showcasing the Best of Southwell The vision for the market is entirely community-focused. The organizers aim to showcase the very best of Southwell and its surrounding areas by bringing together local independent businesses, charities, crafters, and school groups. To make the day a true celebration of local culture, the event will also feature live music and regional food stalls. Free Stalls for Local Traders In a bid to support the community, stalls will be completely free of charge for exhibitors. To qualify, all stallholders must: Be based in Southwell or a neighboring village. Hold their own valid Public Liability Insurance. Get Involved If successful, the team hopes to make the Sunday market a regular, periodic fixture in the town calendar.
